The Ice Cream Truck

All summer long Dylan has been wanting to get ice cream from the ice cream truck that travels through our neighborhood. Sometimes we hear it but don't ever see it. Other times we see the truck when we are walking the dogs and I don't have money on me.
He is always disappointed. We live off of the main street in our neighborhood and Mr. Ice Cream man never seems to drive down our street.

Today was finally a success! First we heard it, then we saw it, and finally the truck of Dylan's dreams drove down our street! The ice cream truck has arrived!! Dylan could barely contain his excitement.

He picked out a spiderman ice cream (not my first choice), and smiled from ear to ear. It was worth the $2! Ha!
I haven't seen Dylan this excited in awhile. He couldn't wait to tell Zack.

And of course I took some quick pictures.

Thank you Mr. Ice Cream man for driving your truck down our street. You made Dylan the happiest boy in town!

First Day of Fall

Today is the first day of Fall!
The leaves here remain green and the temperatures are in the high 70's to low 80's. I love the Fall and all it has to offer!

Today I got off of work 45 minutes early and decided it was a great day to play outside. We used the water table and played out front.

First day off Fall and loving it!

Cranio Awareness Month

The month of September is Craniosynostosis Awareness Month. If it wasn't for our experience with Emersyn, we wouldn't be aware. So it's now my job to help and make others aware of this condition. It is very near and dear to my heart (as you can imagine).  If you'd like to know more about this condition, please contact me. I've also made various posts on this topic and throughout Emersyn's journey.

As of this month, Emersyn is 1 year & one month post-op. She is truly our little miracle. Her progress has been amazing to watch and we are very proud. Emersyn is part of the Cranio Angel Network.  Every year their is a Shamu & You walk in San Diego. Unfortunately we can't attend, but we've signed Emersyn up to be a virtual walker. The walk will be held on October 6th. So stay tuned....all proceeds go towards funding research and providing families with the assistance they need during surgery and post surgery.

Thank you to all who have supported us during Emersyn's journey!

Football Season Begins

Are you ready for some football?!?!?

The Henry Household is ready!
We can't wait for the Fall weather, colorful leaves on the trees, and Sunday football!

Today was the season opener for our beloved Buffalo Bills. While they played terrible, we still rocked out our football gear. Hopefully this season will bring us some wins ( or Zack will be pouting on the couch!)

Go BILLS!!!!

Sunny Sunday

We woke up today to some beautiful weather and took advantage of it! Sunny and cool vs. sunny, humid, and 90. I'll take it!

Happy Grandparents Day

Emersyn & Dylan would like to wish their Nana & Pops, Grandpa M & Grandma M, Grandpa Alan & Grandma Claire, a Happy Grandparent's Day!

Labor Day Weekend

Our Labor Day weekend was awesome. The days were filled with fun and nights were filled with relaxation. I did my best to use our better camera to capture the weekends finest moments.

Saturday: We took the kids to the park. The weather was finally cooler (so we thought). We headed to the Marla Dorel Park in Cary. We love this park because it has something for everyone. The park was pretty empty for a weekend. I'm guessing that was due to the holiday weekend.
Emersyn had a blast on the swings and exploring the park. Dylan loved running here, there, and everywhere. He went to each climbing structure doing his thing.

At night we took Zack out for a birthday dinner. Since we have moved to North Carolina, he has been wanting to go to The Pit. It's a well known restaurant in the Raleigh area. We all got dressed up, girls in dresses, boys in collared shirts. It's just a shame I didn't take a picture. We were excited to go and the food was so tasty, that taking pictures wasn't on my mind. The Pit lived up to Zack's expectations.

Zack & I ended the night watching a movie. Fun in the sun, good food, and relaxation!

I think you can see these collages larger if you click on them.

Sunday: We had a relaxing morning at home playing with the kids. We then headed to the pool. Emersyn loves the water and Dylan is slowly learning to love it. He has this thing with his hair. Heaven forbid it gets wet! The world might end! We are doing our best to teach him how to swim and not be afraid of the water. He's getting there, but I think I see swim lessons in his future. Emersyn on the other hand loves the pool, just as long as the water isn't too cold.

The afternoon was spent enjoying time with our kids. There is nothing better than playing together as a family. We love it.

Monday: Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband! Zack turned 30!
In the morning Dylan helped Zack blow candles out on a breakfast cake. Who doesn't need an assistant to help blow out candles?!? A cute one at that! Then we gave him our presents. We gave him a Buffalo Bills cup filled with candy, a Buffalo Bills jersey, his table (which was 1/2 anniversary, 1/2 birthday gift), and a book. The book was filled with my memories of us from the last 10 years. Yup, Zack & I have been together for almost 10 years.

Zack got some birthday money from relatives, so in the afternoon we went to South Pointe. A very cool indoor-outdoor mall. He bought himself some clothes and we strolled around the mall. For dinner we cooked out on the grill and had another relaxing night. I do believe he had a nice birthday. Hopefully he thinks so too :-)

After dinner we celebrated with an ice cream cake. Dylan helped me put 30 candles on it. We sang to Zack/Daddy and once again Dylan assisted Zack in blowing out his candles.

Happy Birthday to an awesome father, a wonderful husband, and my best friend!

I'd say this 3-day weekend was a success!

Parenting Magazine

Every month there are highlighted crafts in Parenting Magazine. Usually I just read about them and admire the creativity.

A few weeks ago at school we were talking about amusement parks. A co-worker of mine found a cute craft in the magazine and wanted each of our classes to try it. It was a roller coaster made from paper plates and paper towel tubes. The coaster track was meant for a marble. It looked cool in the picture and seemed fairly simple.

I had the kids color the track ( paper plates) and then I cut them out. Essentially it was cutting out the center of the plate, which was not used, and the edges are the track. The goal was to staple them together to form a track for the marble. This was a challenge.

The paper towel rolls were supposed to be cut a different heights to hold up the track. I followed the directions but it didn't work so I did my own 'creating'. During my assembly of this lovely craft, I had multiple preschoolers hovering over my shoulder. It was a trial and error project. Once the tubes were placed, the marble kept falling off the track. So after some tweaking, lots of masking tape, patience, and more patience... It finally worked.

The end product did not look like the one in the magazine. BUT the kids had fun and I did get it to work, so that's all that mattered.

Funny!

Something about this photo is funny!

Could it be that my younger child is freely pushing my older child?!? Their weight difference is 4 lbs, but really?!?!

Too funny!

At The Table

Dylan loves cutting and working with a pencil. Emersyn now wants to get in on the action.
So as Dylan did some cutting this morning, Emersyn practiced her coloring skills. That included eating crayon too!
